Malaysians Are Developing The Next Doctor Who Game

The folks at Kaigan Games recently said that they will be ushering in the Doctor Who universe into smartphones.

The Malaysian game developer, in partnership with UK based Maze Theory, is developing the sequel to Doctor Who: The Edge of Time VR Game.

The game is set to launch next year and is said to build upon the popular VR game. It will also feature a new story set in The Edge of Time universe along with new adventures, iconic monsters, subplots, and game mechanics.

This game will also be a part of a trilogy of experiences set within the Edge of Time universe.

Kaigan Games is best known for its found phone horror series, SIMULACRA. A unique narrative-driven experience that blurs the lines of reality using live-action footage and immersive phone experience.

Its CEO, Shahrizar Roslan said: “Doctor Who has a rich history behind it, and we’re excited to push the narrative even further. Ultimately, we want to offer fans the opportunity to experience a much-loved franchise through a fresh lens”.

The folks at Kaigan Games are a passionate bunch and are mostly nerds so you know that the Doctor Who universe is in good hands. Based on their past work, Doctor Who fans can expect The Doctor’s first foray on mobile to be one of his best adventures ever. You can read more on Kangan Games here.

Ian Hambleton, Maze Theory CEO said “We’re so excited to be working with Shah and the team at Kaigan Games on this title. We’re massive fans of their previous work on Sara is Missing and Simulcra. They are a hot new studio with some epic games under their belt already. Their approach to games on mobile feels in tune with how we want to bring ‘Evolutionary Storytelling’ beyond VR and onto new platforms and devices.”
