This story began as an assignment. I was to write a story on reading apps for ebooks, short stories, and even comics, for folks who are stuck at home during the MCO. It came with strict orders not to mention Apple.

According to Stat Counter, this move will alienate 20% of smartphone users in Malaysia who use iOS. So, why pander to Google that never advertises with us and burn bridges with a tech company that made more money in a quarter than we print newspapers in our lifetime?

Just so that ego can’t win, I wrote the story to be about websites where people can read books and comics for free on their smartphones. And, for good measure, use Apple Safari to take all the screenshots. Because that was all I had anyway.
