I did not think this story was going to get printed. The editor has in his head the list of names, of peoples and companies, that gets different degrees of treatments. Michael Chuah is on that list as someone who should not get coverage in the paper more than once.

Too bad that Michael, like time, waits nor suffers a fool.

I was also genuinely surprised at how everyone at the desk backed me up for this story. We couldn’t ignore the man just because he has done so much in the Malaysian designer toy scene and has been covered in the paper before.

We even managed to slip in a picture of Michael, something the editor was not so thrilled about at first. The photo was a couple of years old. It was from the first time I met the Malaysian Art Toy Showcase (MAS). At TAGCC 2018.

Going to these conventions was always my favourite way to meet people, make contacts, and later interview them. Nowadays, I got to ask the folks that I’ve interview to introduce me to their friends. Something the editor told us not to do.
