Virtually Understanding The Live Entertainment Industry

This was one of the times I underestimated the person I was interviewing. I was introduced to him by another contact, and he did not tell me much about Ib. There was nothing much about him written on the internet, however, the man is actually one of the top players in the live entertainment business in the region.

The story revolves around YOLO Asia and YOLO Malaysia, a virtual platform for live entertainment platform. Designed by those who work in the industry, the event was meant to be so many things, but all with a single goal, to reignite and sustain the live entertainment industry in a time of a pandemic.

But I think the real story is about Ib and people like him, the movers and shakers of an industry who are hidden behind the scene, making a difference without being seen.

Right out of the gate, during the interview, Ib was not shy to say that it is all about survival. It was the honest truth, there was a necessity, the folks in the live entertainment industry, from the entertainers to the people who put up the lights, everyone needed to survive. And survival meant money.

Ib was generous enough to invite me to watch the show that Sunday, but I was burnt out.  I was exasperated by work.
