I love the idea of the Apple Watch SE. It is basically an Apple Watch with fewer sensors, previous-generation tech, the basics and with a lower price tag. What really sold me on this idea is its use case as a device to keep families safe and connected, and how it is targeted towards kids and the elderly. And its lower price tag.
Knowing where your loved ones are and that they can contact you at any time is a great comfort. I know this first-hand. Knowing that the Apple Watch SE can do all that, at any time, without an iPhone, is an amazing proposition. And that that fall detection feature, it tough to put a price tag on that, it can save lives.
The Apple Watch SE is more than RM500 cheaper than the Apple Watch Series 6. It comes in three colours, two sizes, and only one type of case, aluminium. The 40mm model starts at RM1,199 and the 44mm model starts at RM1,349.
Sure, the Apple Watch Series 6 can do more, but for most kids, old people, and some folks, the missing features won’t matter. The Apple Watch SE can do everything the everyday person needs it to do.
We have no official information about the battery in the Apple Watch SE. I imagine that it will last longer per charge since it has fewer sensors. Unless they put in a smaller battery.
