An oasis in the city

Taman Hati was not an easy place to get to. I had to park my car at a mall about five minutes away and take a cab there. There was no parking, the roads were lined with cars, and getting there was stressful. It was when I got there that I discovered why anyone would take the effort to get there.

It is a literal oasis in the city, a hanging garden full of greenery, cats, and excellent coffee. One can go to Taman Hati to do everything or nothing at all. Just being around all that curated plants, those rescue cats, and did I mention excellent coffee? is the perfect afternoon getaway.

I took all the pictures in this story using my trusty iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I used the wide-angle lens for that pathway shot and that picture of Jan was taken discretely while she was explaining about terrariums. I wanted it to look natural and she was nervous. So, she decided to set up the terrarium and I asked her questions. Once she is relaxed, I snapped away.

Taking pictures of someone talking in the middle of an interview is something the photographers at the paper love to do. And I think they look nice. If you can’t place a subject in the story, because you’re just interviewing them in a café, place them in the interview.

You can follow Taman Hati on Instagram. The address and contact number are all there in the profile.
