This Apple+ original is many things. It is a tribute to friends and family, making of an album, and a trip down memory lane. It is more than just the story of How Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band recorded his latest album “Letter To You”.
This is a documentary that you’d want to enjoy on the best sound system you got. Try the Airpods Pro with Spatial Audio at least. It sounds really good.
Watching Bruce Springsteen’s Letter To You felt like the good old days when albums came with a tightly packed fold in pamphlet filled to the edges with information about the album. The ones I used to enjoy reading while listening to my favourite musicians. They contain more than just the lyrics, they convey the thoughts, hopes, and stories of those who made the album. And that this what this film is.
The story behind each song is told by Bruce himself, while we catch the glimpse of how he and his band of almost 50 years put each of the 10 original tracks together, and later, enjoy the full performance.
This celebration of rock music itself is written by Bruce Springsteen and directed by Thom Zimny. The Documentary is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on October 23.
