I first saw her work on my friend’s Instagram page. Custom knitted plushies of original and established characters that no one else would do. Not on a large production scale at least.
During the interview, I was surprised to learn that she works as a programmer and all the crafts stuff was just something that she used to do for and with her kids. Now it is mostly for catharsis and her passion for making.
We did this interview via email and I was grateful for it. She lived far away, and in these interesting times, remote interviews are not only safer but it is the best way to interview those who live far away from the city, effectively widening the pool of people I can feature.
Most of the photos in this story I took from her Facebook page. It’s not the best place for photos. However, it has been useful for getting photos of subjects, even those who say that they don’t have good photos of themselves or their work.
