I was introduced to Bostami (Bo) by a mutual friend, Azman, a voice actor with a lot of connections and friends. The interview was done at Bo’s Artwist office at Cyberjaya. I arrived early and ready to have a conversation, he was ready to give me a presentation.

His years of experience with local and international companies of various scales has sharpened Bo’s skills to a fine point. He learned to design, business, and marketing from the best. But all that never made him forget about where he came from. And that made an amazing story.

Bo always wanted to design cars, and he chased that dream to the highest peaks that even he thought he could not reach. However, after more than a decade of being in the automotive design industry, he began to design watches with his team at Artwist.Co.

The Co stands for collaboration, and that is what he built the brand on. He and his team put a lot of thought in every watch. They look at every detail from its target market of each piece, the design and components of each timepiece, to who they are collaborating with. The result speaks for themselves.

Of course, there were lessons along the way. Starting something like this needs a lot of capital, a lot of knowledge, a lot of connections, and a lot of patience.

However, what amazes me is that he chose to stay and build his company here in Malaysia. He could have easily made it big and maybe bigger in any of our neighbouring countries. He could even go further than that. But in the end, he chose to make his mark here, his home.

And he is not stopping at just making wristwatches. Bo plans to go further. Only time will tell how far he will go.
