HUAWEI X GENTLE MONSTER released the Eyewear II, a pair of glasses and sunglasses with a built-in speaker. There’s no buttons or ports, made with titanium plastic which sounds just as made up as translucent aluminium, but is real, and is priced at RM1,799.

Honestly, the Eyewear II isn’t so bad. It’s a fun idea, a showcase of technology, and could be practical for some folks. These are half wayfarer glasses in a world full of aviators. Its relatively more angular and shorter design looks to be a fit for long faces with rounded features.

However, when compared to a pair of AirPods Pro with noise cancellation and spatial audio that’s RM1,099, it is clear that the Eyewear II is more about form over function.

What is also clear the idea of having to pay RM18.62 per day for a year to get these glasses, a Matebook 14 (R5) and a Watch GT 2 Pro. This is a part of the Fashionista bundle, one of the many 0% instalment plans under the Huawei Together 2020 promotion.

We are in the middle of a pandemic, people. This is no time to accumulate more debt.
