Ayam Brand Frozen Organic Spaghetti

I love their sardines. I grew up on it and even today I would happily eat Ayam Brand sardines in tomato sauce with sautéed shallots, chilli, and tamarind juice with rice or glutenous rice. I would dip other foods like roti canai and ketupat in its gravy.

After the sardines, by second favourite Ayam Brand food would be their baked beans. The basic one. Not the cheese or the lite version. Everything else they make, not a big fan.

Anyway, recently Ayam Brand came out with frozen microwaveable organic spaghetti meal. Honestly, if I saw this in the freezer, it may pique my interest, but I would not pick it up. Firstly, it’s spaghetti, one of the simplest meals to prepare. Second, it’s organic spaghetti, which means nothing to me. And third, it came in three flavours: Spicy Shrimp, Green Curry Tuna, and Mackeral (they call it Saba to make it sound fancy) in Tomato Sauce. All of which seems very basic.

They sent me a box of each and I tried the Spicy Shrimp, the only one that does not sound like one of their canned products poured over cooked spaghetti. I was lazy, and the instructions were simple. Just open the container, close it lightly, and microwave the whole thing for 4:30 seconds.

Microwaved spaghetti, how good can it be? Verily. In addition to the shrimp (three), there was also string beans, chilli slices, green peppercorns, sliced carrots, and baby corn. It was delicious and well done. It was spicy and yet flavourful with no dry or cold spots from the reheating process.

The portion is 250g which average for most people. If I am really hungry, I think I can eat two of them.

According to their website, these Ayam Brand Frozen spaghetti are available at selected Jaya Grocer stores. I do not know how much they cost either, but I bet it’s cheap and I’ll definitely keep an eye out for them.
