2021 Dell Inspiron line-up

Despite the 80s inspired line “this isn’t the Inspiron your parents remember”, Dell is focusing on delivering their promise to be environmentally conscious with this year’s line-up of Inspiron portable PCs.

All of the painted parts of the Inspiron use low volatile organic compound (VOC) waterborne paint. What parts of the Inspiron is considered painted? It does not say.

The packaging tray of all Inspiron laptops, including all new products from 2021 April onwards, are made from 100% recycled paper. Other packaging components, excluding plastic bags, films or wraps, keyboard pad, handle, attached labels, and materials used to construct or close package, are made from up to 90% recycled materials.  

As for features, expect a thin bordered display, a larger keyboard with broader keycaps, and a bigger touchpad. While the camera and microphone array on the current Inspiron is more than adequate for video call purposes, the new Inspiron includes HD webcam with Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) and microphone.

This translates to better video and audio. Provided that the internet service holds up.

Points of the new 2021 Dell Inspiron line-up:

Inspiron 14 and 15

  • Adaptive thermals – If you pick an Intel.
  • Lid-sensor and optional fingerprint reader with Windows Hello for quick boot-ups, logins, and resumes.
  • ExpressCharge – A special option in the bios that charges the battery up 80% in 60 minutes while in hibernation or turned off. Times may vary, and use the included Dell charger, of course.

Inspiron 16 Plus

  • Wider at 16:10 – standard is 16:9. The iPhone 12 has a 19.5:9.
  • Intel Core H-series processor with optional NVIDIA GTX or RTX with thermal management coming soon.
  • 3K resolution display with ComfortView Plus – not sure of actual resolution.

Inspiron 14 2-in-1

  • A convertible.
  • Full HD display.
