He built his career on the reality show singing competition circuit. As a singer, Amir Masdi appeared in the music scene in 2016 and has released a single every year ever since. The interview was done before he stepped up on one of the biggest awards shows in the country, AJL.

It was late for me that night. I was already in bed when he texted me. Because I was working from home at the time, I was happy to do even at odd hours. Most of the people I interview has day jobs, celebrity or otherwise.

Apart from his then upcoming performance, I really had no idea where to go with the story. Perhaps I was not asking the right questions. That’s until he began to talk about his team and his fans.

That became the second half of the story, his appreciation for those who has gotten him this far.

In the end story reads almost like a campaign. It starts with AJL being postponed, about the song that got him there, and how he got to where he is today. It then goes into his situation during the pandemic, his development, and the second half of the story.

Too bad the editor decided to put the story after Amir performed at AJL.
