Apple’s latest announcement has been speculated by a smart few ever since Apple launched the AirPods Max. These features in turn give consumer more reasons to purchase AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip.
Previously Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos is only available on selected video streaming services. In Malaysia that means Apple TV+. This virtually limited the appeal of these features when they were introduced alongside the AirPods Max.
At the same time AirPods Max sound quality capabilities were wasted on Apple Music which did not have a lossless audio offering.
So, when Apple announced that Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos, and Lossless Audio coming to Apple Music in June, all the pieces clicked into place.
In the announcement Apple also said that Apple Music will automatically play Dolby Atmos tracks on all AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip, as well as the built-in speakers in the latest versions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The Lossless treatment will be applied to more than 75 million songs in the Apple Music library while the Dolby Atmos feature will be added constantly.
