Sony (Singapore) recently announced a new model of headphones designed with runners in-mind. Float Run is a novel headphone style that positions the speaker above the ear canal without covering or putting any pressure on the ear.
It weighs approximately 33 grams, and has a flexible neckband that doesn’t slip during workouts. According to Sony, the Float Run has been tested on a wide range of head shapes and hairstyles and can be worn with hats and sunglasses.
The Float Run uses uses 16mm drivers that is tuned to deliver quality sound while despite the unique style. The off-ear design also let’s the wearer hear their surroundings better while eliminating echo of the sounds your body makes, like footsteps, chewing or heavy breathing.
It has an IPX4 water resistant rating — it can resist sweat but don’t swim with it —and has a 10 hour battery life. The Float Run can also be charged for 10 minutes to get an hour of play.
Of course, it also has built in controls, has a built in microphone, is compatible with a smartphone’s voice assistant and charges using USB-C.
The Float Run also comes with a carrying pouch and charging cable.
Availability
The Sony Float Run headphones will be available at selected retail shops and online stores from mid-February 2023 at a retail price of SG$199 (RM646) inclusive of GST.
