This Synology SiskStation has so much power, it is not meant for the everyday home user. But no one is going to stop you from getting one for your home.

Synology recently released the DiskStation DS1823xs+, a huge central data storage solution that has 8 storage bays and supports up to 144 TB storage (before expansion).

The sheer capacity of the DS1823xs+ means it is built for offices and studios as an office-wide endpoint and server backup, sharing and syncing files, or managing local surveillance. In practical terms, it can be deployed wherever a dedicated server rack or data centre is not available.

Stats For Nerds

The DS1823xs+ has rated read and write speeds of 3,100MB/s and 2,600 MB/s respectively. It works with M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD storage and can be configured to use SSDs as a cache for HDD volumes.

For connectivity, it supports 10GbE and up to four optional 1/10/25GbE or Fibre Channel ports support. It can also be expanded using the Synology DX517 expansion to support up to 324 TB of storage.

Synology’s browser-based DiskStation Manager (DSM) makes remote administration, maintenance, and security, easy. It is compatible with a library of plugins and apps that makes customising the application of the DS1823xs+ trivial.
