The World’s First Transformers Themed Restaurant Is Opening In Hong Kong

The world’s first Transformers-themed restaurant is set to open at Russell Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong on 23 April 2023. It’s designed to look like The Ark, the Autobot spaceship that brought the Transformers’ civil war crashing on Earth.

Transformers: The Ark Restaurant will be the first restaurant in Hong Kong to use various visual technology such as projection mapping and LED screens and integrate it with physical architecture to create realistic visual effects.

On the Lower Deck is Asia’s first 3-meter tall animatronic Optimus Prime statue, which took over nine months to build. This is neither G1 Optimus Prime nor the Optimus Prime from the movies but instead more closely resembles the Optimus Prime of contemporary animated series.

On the Upper Deck is the spaceship’s control room with LED screens showing “live” footage of space.

There are also hidden easter eggs throughout the restaurant.

Overall the restaurant will tell the story of how the ship crash-landed when it ran out of Energon. As thanks to the humans for helping them find the Energon they need, the Autobots invited the humans to dine at The Ark.

In the story, the food is made by chefs, food scientists and A La Carte culinary experts, with the help of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime in the “Food Lab” which is located on the restaurant’s Upper Deck and can be observed through 3D displays. Orders will be delivered via a virtual conveyor belt that runs through the restaurant.

Of course, in reality, guests will still need to pay for the food.

The restaurant’s signature dish is the Transformers-themed burgers — which are edible and do not turn into a robot.
