It took the LEGO Group three and a half years to develop LEGO DREAMZzz and calls it one of the most researched themes it had ever made.

Since 2019, the LEGO Group had been working with more than 30,000 kids and shoppers to shape LEGO DreamZzz into what it is today. Everything, from the story content and play experience to the story-led building instructions and the products all came from this effort.

“The LEGO DREAMZzz sets are unlike anything we’ve made before. Off the bat, the building instructions resemble comic books and are now story-led, helping kids to fully immerse themselves in the world before they’ve even finished their first build,” said the LEGO Group.

In addition to the new format of building instructions, each LEGO DREAMZzz set can be built into either a reality-based “waking world” model or a fantastical “dream world” model that the LEGO Group said, “look like no other LEGO set before it.”

“Our designers wanted to create building experiences unlike anything else in the LEGO Group’s portfolio, and we’re incredibly proud of the LEGO DREAMZzz sets, that all kids to unleash their imaginations and build the world of their wildest dreams,” added the LEGO Group.

Currently, the LEGO Group has no plans to make a video game version of LEGO DREAMZzz, however, they are planning to release more than just more episodes and sets, but also non-brick merchandise in the form of, perhaps, clothing, and role-playing toys.

They also hinted that although LEGO DREAMZzz is a new and original series that is separate from the other themes and franchises, fans may see characters from other themes and franchises appear in LEGO CREAMZzz.

“You may have seen some of our Ninjago characters having wonderful, outrageous dreams of their own earlier this year on our LEGO YouTube channel, we’d recommend you check it out,” teased the LEGO Group.

LEGO DREAMZzz was first launched as a 10-episode animation on 15 May 2023. The story focuses on a group of middle schoolers who, after one fateful night, uncover the ancient secret that the dream world exists.

The series is well made with well-thought-out characters and well-implemented storylines.

The first 10 sets from the LEGO DREAMZzz theme will be released in August 2023.
