LEGO Technic The Batman Batcycle (42155) Is Generic But Still Worth It — Review

Without the box, the LEGO Technic The Batman Batcycle (42155) looks like a generic, fantastical muscle bike. With no stickers, no prints, and nothing that identifies it as a movie tie-in model, it looks like a LEGO original. And yet, this 641-piece build is still worth picking up.

I have a soft spot for LEGO Technic motorcycles. Their price almost always seems fair, the scale is almost always satisfyingly large, and the build is almost always just right with its level of complexity.

At RM249.90, this playset gets away with a lot. There are no alternate builds, no markings, and the worst thing I could say about it is a lot of red and blue Technic pins, pegs, and gears showing. Despite the designer’s fantastic efforts, these dots of colour is exaggerated and takes away from the finished model, which is supposed to be black and grey.

The front and back suspension, a drive chain, and hidden pistons are a nice touch, but they are standard in a LEGO Technic bike.

Still, the build was challenging, the techniques used were interesting, and the finished size of the playset looks so good on display. I like how the engine size is exaggerated with its four stealthy exhausts; it gives the bike the perception of a stalking monster. It reminds me of Guilty, the bike ridden by the Mechanical Violator Hakaider (look it up).

I don’t think you need to watch 2022 The Batman to appreciate this playset. I would still recommend the movie, though.

It’s not as intricate as the RM999.90 playsets, but to me, LEGO Technic The Batman Batcycle (42155) is more than good enough for me to recommend to most folks. Yet, I also think the playset could have been cheaper and had alternate builds if it was a LEGO original.
