On Friday (8 September), Acer launched the Acer Swift Edge 16 laptop and the Aspire S Series All-in-One PC.
With a starting price of RM3,999, the Swift Edge 16 features an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, Microsoft Pluton chip-to-cloud security, and a 16-inch 3.2K OLED display on the high end. When closed, the laptop measures 12.95mm thick and weighs approximately 1.17kg. It has 16GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage. There’s also an active cooling system.

Acer Aspire S Series All-in-One desktop has a starting price of RM3,899. It comes with either a 31.5-inch display and a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 processor or a 27-inch display with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processor (you only get one guess for which one is the cheaper model). Of course, it also has a webcam.

Opinion
At the moment of this writing, I could not get the price of the Swift Edge 16 on the official online store to get to the lowest price the press release listed, and I could not purchase the Aspire S Series despite the press release saying that it is available now.
At its lowest configuration, the Swift Edger 16 has only 8GB of memory, which is not worth it. Windows is a bloated advertising mess as is. Add the Chrome browser on top of that, and the RAM has no chance. And that’s just for everyday browsing.
As for the S Series, without the official product listing, I have to rely on the dubious press release. Like the laptop, this desktop’s lowest configuration only has 8GB of RAM. That’s less than some Android devices. I can’t blame Acer, as this could be an effect of the chip shortage that started during the pandemic.
As a comparison, the Macbook Air starts at RM4,399 (M1, 13-inch), and an iMac starts at RM5,599 (M1, 27-inch).
