More Details On The LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort’s MINILAND Amazing Malaysia

LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort is looking to hype up its MINILAND Amazing Malaysia attraction by inviting the Tourism, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister to look at it on Thursday and Friday (October 18 and 19). The outdoor display of 129 models was launched on September 14.

Since I’m not attending the event, here are some extra details about the attraction provided by LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort’s Sales and Marketing Director, Thila Munusamy.

She said it took a team of 51 builders, 11 designers, and 7 special effects experts to build MINILAND Amazing Malaysia. She added that all 126 models are newly crafted and tailored specifically for the attraction.

These are not to be confused with the models at Singapore, Myanmar, Putrajaya, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur, Philippines, Pirate, China, India, Kampung, and Johor Bahru MINILANDS.

When asked to elaborate on the models in the MINILAND Amazing Malaysia, she explains that there are 53 models representing East Malaysia. They are Kuching, Mount Mulu, The Pinnacles, Mount Kinabalu, Sepilok Orang Utan Rehab Centre and Kota Kinabalu.

She said West Malaysia is represented by 73 models. They are Taman Negara, Bandar Melaka, Batu Caves, Ipoh, Georgetown and Kota Bharu.

She added that the Coral Reef Build represents the South China Sea. Guests can build their own corals and add them to the display there.

What makes LEGOLAND’s MINILAND models is its interactiveness. Thila said that while there are no hidden easter eggs in the MINILAND Amazing Malaysia, expect a “dash of LEGO humour” sprinkled throughout.

“With a simple button press, visitors will be treated to a Wayang Kulit. They can also partake in the Penambang Boat Race along Sungai Sarawak and witness Melaka’s iconic Rickshaws as they parade through Dutch Square, among other experiences,” she said.

For visitors who look closer, Thalia says that they will find references to Malaysian culture, kampung life, traditional crafts, local events, historical news events, iconic personalities, and local pop culture.
