Located by the Kinta River, at what was once a thriving tourist attraction, is Ipoh Barber & Comber, one of the few businesses still surviving at the Riverwalk.
From the road, the establishment looked derelict because businesses here were built facing the river. The shop housed some of the most talented barbers in town.
The services they offer were a blend of traditional barbering and contemporary salon excellence, all at a reasonable price. The service here is so good that I often forgo getting a haircut in the big city and wait until I get a chance to come back again.
The atmosphere at Ipoh Barber & Comber was always chill. I often went in the morning. It opened from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., except on Sundays. I was told that it could get busy in the afternoon.
Like the many hidden treasures in Ipoh, it deserved better. Not only to survive but to thrive. However, the location, like the entire town, was a wasted opportunity.
