Wagyu and Rice — In 5

Of the many eateries at Lalaport BBCC, most offer common fare that can be found elsewhere. However, there are a few restaurants that are worth the extra effort. One of these is plainly named Wagyu and Rice.

Easily missed, Wagyu and Rice was located on the mall’s Gourmet Street. A quarter of its space was occupied by a Tan Ngan Lo stall, which made the restaurant appear deceptively small from the outside.

Inside, the restaurant features a long bar. Everyone sits facing where the chefs prepare the beef. As the name implies, the menu featured (halal) wagyu beef and rice. It also served unagi (eel) and udon.

For first-time visitors, I recommend their A5 Shimomuragyu Wagyu Hamburg, which came with a Rice set. It looked small, but it was very satisfying. The full meal came with a beef patty, rice, egg yolk, cabbage salad, miso soup and a selection of condiments. All for less than RM40.

Wagyu and Rice had three locations in KL, and the one in Lalaport had the lowest prices. It also had two locations in Pulau Pinang. The latest list of locations and menu can be found here: https://wagyuandrice.com/
