Sunway Medical Centre Named Malaysia’s Top Hospital in Newsweek Ranking

Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) in Sunway City has been ranked the top hospital in Malaysia by Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2026 report.

The hospital climbed to 138th globally, up from 193rd in 2025 and 233rd in 2024, maintaining its top national ranking.

Sunway Healthcare Group President Datuk Lau Beng Long attributed the achievement to the hospital’s staff and patient trust.

The annual ranking evaluates over 2,500 hospitals worldwide, with only the top 250 making the published list.

Hospitals are ranked based on expert surveys, patient experience data, and quality metrics.

SMC employs over 300 resident consultants and offers services in more than 80 specialties. With recent expansions, the hospital will have over 1,000 beds.

The hospital is Malaysia’s first private facility to receive accreditations from JCI, ACHS International, and MSQH.

Newsweek publishes the World’s Best Hospitals ranking annually with Statista, covering major healthcare systems worldwide.
