The Lin Xiang Xiong Art Gallery in Penang has launched its first photography competition, themed “The Harmony of Art and Architecture.”

Organised by the gallery and co-organised by The Photographic Society of Penang, the competition runs from March 1 to May 31, 2026. It is open to participants 18 and above.

Entrants must submit a series of five interconnected photographs “forming a cohesive narrative on inclusivity, hope, and coexistence”. The series must include perspectives on the gallery’s interior spaces capturing artistic atmosphere and humanistic details, and its exterior architecture showing the 8,000-square-metre building’s form and relation to the surrounding coastal landscape.

Submissions must be original JPEG files with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and size of 8 × 12 inches. Flash photography is prohibited inside the gallery, and excessive digital manipulation is not allowed.

The total prize pool is RM20,000:

• First Prize: RM5,000 + certificate
• Second Prize: RM3,000 + certificate
• Third Prize: RM2,000 + certificate
• Merit Prizes: 10 awards of RM500 each + certificates
• Consolation Prizes: 20 awards of RM250 each + certificates

Winning entries may be exhibited at the gallery and included in its official architectural commemorative photobook.

The Lin Xiang Xiong Art Gallery, located at The Light Waterfront in Gelugor, Penang, opened in December 2025. It features over 300 works by artist Professor Lin Xiang Xiong.
