Apple launches affordable MacBook Neo

Apple has introduced the MacBook Neo, its most affordable laptop to date.

It features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, comes in four colours, and is powered by the new A18 Pro chip.

Designed for everyday tasks like web browsing, streaming, and photo editing, it also supports AI features. The laptop offers up to 16 hours of battery life and starts at RM2,499 (RM2,099 for students).

Key features include a 1080p webcam, dual microphones, side-firing speakers, Magic Keyboard, and a large trackpad. It runs on macOS Tahoe and supports integration with iPhone and third-party apps.
Apple says the MacBook Neo is designed to be more affordable and accessible, featuring a durable aluminium build, colourful options, and long battery life.

The MacBook Neo weighs 2.7 pounds, has rounded corners, and comes in blush, indigo, silver, and citrus. These colours also appear on the keyboard and wallpapers.

The 13-inch display offers a 2408-by-1506 resolution and 500 nits of brightness, with an anti-reflective coating.

Powered by the A18 Pro chip, the MacBook Neo is said to be up to 50% faster for everyday tasks than competing PCs and up to 3x faster for AI tasks. It includes a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine for graphics and AI, and runs silently without a fan.

The battery lasts up to 16 hours on a single charge.

It has the Magic Keyboard, large trackpad, and Touch ID. It also has a 1080p camera, dual microphones, and side-firing speakers.

The MacBook Neo has two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 6.

The laptop runs on macOS with built-in apps and Apple Intelligence features.

iPhone users can use features like Handoff, Universal ClipBoard, and iPhone Mirroring with the MacBook Neo.

Apple says the MacBook Neo uses 60% recycled materials and is its lowest-carbon MacBook so far.
