PlayStation Portal Update Adds High Quality 1080p Streaming Mode

Sony has released a new software update for the PlayStation Portal.

The update adds a 1080p High Quality mode for Remote Play and Cloud Streaming. It uses a higher bitrate than the standard 1080p mode.

Users select the option from the Quick Menu under Max Resolution, then restart the session.

Cloud Streaming changes include:

– A new screen on game bundle pages that lets users pick a specific title to stream.

– On-screen notifications for game invites received while streaming.

– Trophy notifications that now show the trophy name, image, and a special animation for platinum trophies.

– A faster search screen with the on-screen keyboard appearing immediately.

Account setup is simpler for new users: they can create and sign in by scanning a QR code with a mobile device.

The update began rolling out globally on March 17. Cloud Streaming requires a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.
