Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Achieves Malaysia’s First ISO 20121 Certification

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has become the first purpose-built venue in Malaysia to receive ISO 20121 certification for event sustainability management.

The certification, awarded on 18 March 2026, recognises the venue’s systems for managing events with reduced environmental and social impacts. ISO 20121 is an international standard that covers resource use, waste management, sourcing, and operational practices.

General Manager John Burke said the certification shows the centre’s focus on responsible event delivery and sets an example for the industry.

The venue, located in the KLCC precinct, already holds other certifications, including ISO 14001 for environmental management, EarthCheck Gold, and the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award for sustainable convention centres.

It is managed by Convex Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd and Legends Global.
