LEGO Group to Build Solar Park at New Virginia Factory

On March 18, the LEGO Group unveiled plans to build a large-scale solar park at its new manufacturing facility in Chesterfield, Virginia.

The project will install about 40,700 solar panels across 80 acres and rooftops, providing 28 MWp of energy.

Construction of the solar park is scheduled to begin this summer. It is part of a larger $1.5 billion investment in the 340-acre site, which will include 13 buildings, such as moulding and packing facilities, an office, and a warehouse. The factory is expected to begin production in 2027.

By the end of 2026, the local team is projected to expand from 500 to approximately 900 employees, reflecting significant job growth in the region. The new office space is being built with mass timber. Additionally, the LEGO Group has pledged $1.3 million in grants to support eight nonprofit organisations in the Greater Richmond area.
