Samsung Wearables Now Control Bedroom Temperature for Better Sleep

Samsung has developed a system that links its wearable devices, such as the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch, to its WindFree air conditioners.

The system adjusts bedroom temperatures automatically using live biometric data from the wearables.

A sleep mode detects when a user falls asleep and adjusts the bedroom temperature throughout the night. Instead of keeping the temperature constant, the system monitors sleep stages and adapts the environment accordingly.

It cools the room quickly during initial sleep, maintains a low temperature for deeper rest, and gradually raises it during deep NREM stages to prevent overcooling as body temperature drops.

Toward morning, the system increases the temperature to help prevent sudden cold awakenings.

The air conditioner gently disperses air to reduce drafts that can disrupt sleep, such as chills or dryness.

This approach aims to offer adaptable temperature control for different users, including older adults and families with children.
