Brewing Creativity: Starbucks Showcases Owen Chong for World Autism Day

This April, in celebration of World Autism Day, Starbucks Malaysia is transforming its cafes into vibrant cultural hubs with a special mini-gallery tour featuring contemporary artist Owen Chong.

The initiative, “Art Brewed Beyond the Ordinary,” seeks to raise public awareness and foster greater acceptance of individuals with special needs, offering Chong a prominent stage to share his expressive works.

Born in 2003, Chong began his artistic journey at the age of 10. Now 23, he celebrates over a decade of growth, with a portfolio exhibited internationally in Malaysia and France.

The gallery tour will travel through three prominent Starbucks locations in April. The exhibition launches at Starbucks Reserve Mid Valley from April 2-5, continues at Starbucks Reserve 1 Utama from April 10-12, and concludes at Starbucks Bangsar Village 1 from April 17-19. All exhibitions are open to the public from 10am to 10pm.

This collaboration also has a philanthropic dimension, with selected artworks available for purchase. Sale proceeds support both the artist and the community: 70% benefits Chong directly, while 30% is donated to autism awareness initiatives. Through this integration of art and the coffee experience, Starbucks inspires the community, demonstrating that with passion and determination, anything is possible.
