Samsung Updates Galaxy XR With Enterprise and Usability Features

Samsung Electronics released a software update for the Galaxy XR headset on April 8. The update adds Android Enterprise support and several new functional features to the extended reality platform.

The inclusion of Android Enterprise allows organisations to manage Galaxy XR devices using existing management frameworks. According to the company, this includes support for zero-touch enrollment, QR code setup, and remote device locking or wiping. The update also integrates Samsung Knox to provide hardware-level data protection. Samsung is committed to providing regular software and security updates for the device for up to five years.

For general users, the firmware includes a desktop session restore feature that reopens up to three previously used applications after a reboot. It also introduces “Auto Spatialization” for Google Chrome and YouTube, which converts 2D images and videos into 3D.

Additional usability changes include adjustable virtual keyboard positioning and an on-screen guide for aligning digital content with physical walls (p. 3). The update also adds accessibility options such as single-eye tracking and pointer customisation. The software rollout began on April 8 for all Galaxy XR users.
