Gerak Malaysia for iOS To Be Updated Later

As Malaysia reopens after successfully flattening the Covid-19 infection curve, many Malaysians are still “stranded” in their hometowns and are unable to travel between states to get back to work.

The Malaysian government and the Royal Malaysia Police gave the people two options: register your intentions to travel interstate via appointment at a police station or use the Gerak Malaysia app.

The fact that an app has been developed as a solution is amazing. But it seems, for now, it favours one operating system over the other.

According to infographics shared by the Royal Malaysia Police, those who intend to travel interstate to get back to their jobs must register between 4 and 5 May. The Permission to travel, which is divided by states, will begin on 7 May and ends on 10 May

The kink in the plan is that iOS users are not getting the latest version of the Gerak Malaysia app, not at least until 7 May. Why? I do not know. I can only speculate.

But, all is not lost. As stated earlier, people can still get an appointment at their nearest police station to register their intention to travel interstate. And those who get the update can still update their application later.
