The problem that he solved has been plaguing the healthcare industry for decades. It is a miracle that no one has offered a solution before. All it took was an idea that he had and a conversation with a friend.
Alvin Yuan is an Asian kid who grew up in an Asian family. In other words, the paths that he could take in life were few and pre-approved. But, like the few who has found success like him, Alvin followed the road up to a point and picked the one less travelled when the opportunity came.
It came in the form of a conversation. Alvin brought his knowledge of the healthcare industry; his friend has the skill to develop skills and apps. Together they built HealthMetrics, a system that bridges Human Resources and Healthcare that solves everything in between.
HealthMetrics had been in the spotlight for the past few years, gaining support in the form of investments. However, no one really knows what it does. No one was writing about it. That was one of the reasons he agreed to do this interview.
It was done remotely, of course. As an experienced businessman, Alvin was more comfortable talking about what he has created instead of who he is. I can’t imagine his journey to be as easy as he summarised it. To end up not practising what he studied, to have to follow his family business, only to break out on his own. But, he did it.
Here’s the published story.
