IHG Hotels & Resorts signs three Holiday Inn Express franchise deals in Madrid, Málaga and Barcelona, adding 653 rooms to its Spanish pipeline, the company announced on June 30 2026.

IHG signed the new-build hotels with Tikehau Capital under Selecto, a new select service hotel platform with Quest Capital. The three properties were the first hotels signed under Selecto, with further signings expected.

The 244-room Holiday Inn Express Madrid – Julián Camarillo was set to open in Q1 2028 in the MadBit district and become the largest Holiday Inn Express in Iberia. The hotel was planned to feature fifth-generation brand design, an outdoor pool and a fitness area.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Málaga – Palacio de Congresos, with 259 rooms including 52 suites, was scheduled to open in Q1 2029 between Málaga’s airport and city centre. The hotel would sit next to the FYCMA Trade Fair and Congress Centre and include an outdoor pool, sun deck, fitness area and Generation 5 public spaces.

The 150-room Holiday Inn Express Barcelona – Fira was planned next to Fira de Barcelona convention centre, between Barcelona El Prat Airport and the city centre, and scheduled to open in Q1 2029. IHG said the hotel would be its 12th property across the wider Barcelona area and was expected to complement the existing portfolio.

IHG reported it operated more than 20 Holiday Inn Express hotels in Spain, with four more in the pipeline, and over 340 open and pipeline properties across Europe.
