Apple has unveiled a redesigned iPad mini featuring an A20 Pro chip, an 8.5-inch OLED display, and IP67 water and dust resistance, with orders opening on 29 October.
The updated tablet measures 5.4 millimetres in thickness and features 24 per cent thinner bezels. The 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display delivers up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and an optional nano-texture finish to reduce glare.
The device is powered by the A20 Pro processor, built on a 2-nanometer process technology. It features a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine on the 512GB configuration, delivering up to 4.5 times faster artificial intelligence performance than the prior generation.
Hardware additions include an Acoustic Display audio system, a 12-megapixel Center Stage front camera positioned on the landscape edge, and a 12-megapixel wide rear camera with an Adaptive True Tone flash. Wireless connectivity is managed by Apple’s N1 chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, while cellular models integrate the C2 modem.
The device runs on iPadOS 27 and supports external display mode in version 27.2. It is compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil USB-C, alongside a new TechWoven Smart Folio accessory.
Pre-orders begin on Thursday, 29 October, with retail availability starting Friday, 6 November. Pricing starts at RM2,999 for Wi-Fi models and RM3,699 for Wi-Fi plus cellular models, with storage options ranging from 128GB to 512GB in midnight and starlight finishes.
