Malaysian artist Ryzalman presents Berapa Sekilo? The Rhythm of the Wet Market at AweGallery in Petaling Jaya from May 22 to June 4, 2026.
The exhibition runs daily from 11 am to 8 pm at AweGallery, 21, Jalan 20/13, Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya, 46300. According to the May 13 press release, the exhibition features photo-realistic watercolour paintings of wet market scenes.
The press release said a recurring visual element is the handwritten seafood price card. It said the work focuses on routine, labour, sustenance, and survival in the wet market.
Ryzalman said: “Through this exhibition, I hope viewers may come to appreciate the quiet poetry woven into the rhythms of daily Malaysian life.”
Ryzalman Misran was born in Simpang Rengam, Kluang, Johor, Malaysia, in May 1976. He studied at Universiti Teknologi MARA and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Design in 1998.
He works as a graphic designer and illustrator for books, magazines and other publications. Between 2010 and 2013, he created stamp illustrations for Pos Malaysia, including Firefly, Threatened Habitats, Aromatic Plants, Highland Tourist Spots and Wonders of Malaysian Forest.
He has participated in exhibitions throughout Malaysia since 1992 and is a member of The Malaysian Watercolour Society, Angkatan Pelukis SeMalaysia and the Gangsta Watakala watercolour art group.
