Mattel marks the International Day of Play on June 11 with volunteer events, charitable partnerships, and play programs in El Segundo, Los Angeles, and other communities worldwide.
Mattel said about 700 children from local elementary schools and several Los Angeles organisations attended Camp Mattel at its headquarters in El Segundo. Employees volunteered at the event, which included games, activities and a soccer clinic with Los Angeles Football Club.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell attended Camp Mattel, and the City of El Segundo recognised June 11 as International Day of Play and June 1-5 as Mattel’s Play It Forward Volunteer Week.
Mattel launched the Hot Wheels All Drivers Welcome vehicle assortment in partnership with Braille Institute, Easterseals Disability Services and Starlight Children’s Foundation. The company also said it worked with Save the Children, Amazon and Amazon MGM Studios on a public service campaign and Amazon Wish List toy-donation program tied to the Masters of the Universe film.
Mattel employees also volunteered in local communities worldwide, including homebuilding, toy donations and support for children’s hospitals and Ronald McDonald House programs. Mattel also partnered with Project Sunshine on a Summer Solstice Play-A-Thon at its El Segundo toy store.
