IHG Hotels & Resorts signs InterContinental Vilamoura – Algarve in Portugal on June 24, 2026, converting a Crowne Plaza hotel to expand its luxury footprint.
IHG said the InterContinental Vilamoura – Algarve in Vilamoura was scheduled to open in April 2027 after a comprehensive renovation of the current Crowne Plaza Vilamoura. The hotel would have 323 luxury guest rooms, multiple restaurants and bars, spa and wellness facilities, leisure amenities, and flexible meeting and event spaces.
IHG stated the hotel was located near Vilamoura Marina, Praia de Vilamoura and several golf courses, targeting international leisure travellers and the premium meetings and events market. The company said the signing marked its fourth InterContinental property in Portugal and supported its Luxury & Lifestyle strategy in the country.
IHG reported more than 595 open Luxury & Lifestyle hotels globally and 392 in development as of March 31, 2026. It said InterContinental had over 240 hotels across nearly 70 countries and was celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026.
IHG said it partnered on the project with HDP Algarve SA.
