Seiko presents a one-of-a-kind Star Time wristwatch capable of displaying up to one million hours to brand ambassador Shohei Ohtani in 2026 to mark his 10-year partnership.
Seiko said development of the mechanical watch began about three years earlier after Ohtani asked how much time remained in his baseball career. The project aimed to create a wristwatch display tracking up to one million hours.
The watch used five layered discs indicating cumulative time over 24, 1,000, 10,000, 100,000 and 1,000,000 hours, with the 24-hour disc also showing current time. Seiko said no other wristwatch could display up to one million hours with five disc indicators as of July 2026.
Seiko developed a new structure and assembly methods to accommodate the thicker discs and modified the movement’s configuration. The design included a diamond on each rotating disc and a silicone strap custom-sized for Ohtani’s wrist.
The watch had a High-Intensity Titanium case and clasp, a box-shaped sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating, 10-bar water resistance, 41.8mm diameter and 17.4mm thickness. Seiko stated the model was unique and not for sale.
