HARRIS Hotel & Conventions Sunshine Penang opens on July 3, 2026, in Ayer Itam, Penang, offering integrated accommodation, events facilities and mall connectivity within Sunshine Central.

HARRIS Hotel & Conventions Sunshine Penang opened as the HARRIS brand’s first property in Malaysia, reflecting Penang’s role as a hub for leisure, healthcare, retail and business events. The hotel sat about 30 minutes from Penang International Airport and was positioned in an established local neighbourhood near Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si Temple, markets and hawker food.

The 284-key property offered HARRIS Rooms, HARRIS Suites and HARRIS Family Suites, targeting individual travellers, families, business guests and event groups. Facilities included Harris Bistro all-day dining restaurant, an F&B lounge, swimming pool, children’s wading pool, playground, gymnasium and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The hotel provided direct connectivity to Sunshine Central’s retail and lifestyle facilities, with extensive parking and access to event spaces. Its pillarless Grand Ballroom accommodated up to 1,000 guests for banquet-style weddings, gala dinners, annual dinners and corporate functions.

The property also targeted medical travellers and accompanying families by offering access to hospitals and private medical facilities on the island, alongside family-friendly rooms and mall-linked dining. Ascott stated that Penang’s tourism, healthcare and business events sectors made it a suitable location for HARRIS’ Malaysian debut.

To mark the opening, the hotel offered HARRIS Rooms from RM220+ per room per night. Bookings were available from opening until October 31, 2026 for stays between July 3 and October 31, 2026.
