Apple Original Films debuted the trailer for action feature “Matchbox The Movie,” starring John Cena, during a San Diego Comic-Con Hall H presentation.

“Matchbox The Movie” premieres globally on Apple TV on Friday, October 9, 2026.

Inspired by Mattel die-cast toys, the storyline follows an undercover CIA agent who embroils his childhood friends in an international chase after returning to their small town.

Sam Hargrave directed and executive produced the film from a script written by David Coggeshall.

Skydance Media and Mattel Studios produced the feature film. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Robbie Brenner, Ynon Kreiz, and Jules Daly served as producers.

Patrick Newall and Elizabeth Bassin served as additional executive producers alongside Hargrave.
