Malaysian automaker Proton has signed a distributorship agreement with David Pieris Holdings to distribute and retail Proton e.MAS models in Sri Lanka on August 10, 2026.
David Pieris Automobiles will anchor the business using parent group resources to sell and service vehicles in Sri Lanka. Sales are targeted to begin in 2026.
Proton’s e.MAS brand currently exports to Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago, Mauritius, and Nepal, with Brunei expected to join soon. The brand sold 21,808 units across domestic and export markets in the first seven months of 2026.
Cumulative sales surpassed 30,000 units since the launch of the Proton e.MAS 7 in December 2024. Proton International Corporation Chief Executive Officer Edmund Lim stated the ultimate ambition is to become Sri Lanka’s leading new energy vehicle brand.
