Nintendo said the physical version of “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” was available at selected retailers as of April 16.
According to Nintendo, the game takes place in 2054 after Earth was destroyed. A colony ship of human survivors, including a customizable main character, escaped and crashed on the planet Mira.
Nintendo described the game as a science fiction role-playing game set on a large, dangerous world. Players travel across Mira and fight to secure humanity’s survival.
The game uses an action-based battle system with various special attacks and skills and includes enemies of different sizes and types. Players can pilot a machine called a Skell that flies, transforms into a vehicle, and uses high physical strength in combat after proving themselves to the in-game organization BLADE.
Players can join a squad of up to 31 others online to complete tasks like collecting items or defeating specific enemies. Up to four squad members can team up online for special assignments against strong enemies to earn in-game rewards.
Players can recruit avatars of other players into their team in the main story. The Nintendo Switch 2 digital version of “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” and the related upgrade pack were available at the same time.
People who already own “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition” on Nintendo Switch can buy the upgrade pack to add the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Using online features requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership, a Nintendo Account, an internet connection, and is not available in all countries.
