LEGO Group opens Kornmarken Campus manufacturing innovation centre in Billund, Denmark, on 24 June 2026 to speed development, testing and scaling of new manufacturing technologies.
Kornmarken Campus was described as the company’s first dedicated global manufacturing innovation centre and formed part of its investment in manufacturing technologies and capabilities. The 47,000 m² campus, combined with a legacy factory, creates a 100,000 m² facility.
Around 1,800 employees from engineering, quality and manufacturing worked at the site to develop, test and scale new technologies and continue LEGO brick production. Facilities included a Test & Innovation Centre, Materials Lab, Additive Manufacturing Centre, Training Academy and mould manufacturing.
The campus was designed with shared workspaces and facilities intended to support collaboration, learning and wellbeing. It featured a 25-tonne red 2×4 LEGO brick installation and historic moulds.
Sustainability measures included a 22,000 m² mass timber construction, energy-efficient systems, rainwater management and partial power from a nearby 4 MW solar park. LEGO stated it aimed for LEED Platinum certification and was building a new 80–100 MW solar park to match total energy consumption in Billund.
The opening followed other investments in Billund, including the LEGO Campus, opened in 2022, and an Innovation Campus scheduled to open in 2028. LEGO reported employing more than 7,200 people in Denmark, nearly 6,600 of them in Billund.
