Honda Malaysia Launches Solar Power System at Melaka Plant

Honda Malaysia completes an RM14 million solar power and energy storage installation at its Melaka manufacturing plant in Alor Gajah to advance carbon neutrality goals on July 24, 2026.

The system features 8,960 solar panels with a 5.6-megawatt capacity, alongside a Battery Energy Storage System.

The installation will generate 7,042 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. This output reduces the facility’s carbon dioxide emissions by 4,584 tonnes per year, representing 10% of total emissions.

Honda Malaysia also achieved Climate and Sustainability Industry Readiness Index certification with a 3.07-star rating. The company received Green Investment Tax Allowance support from the government.

Managing Director Narushi Yazaki stated the company will expand its solar initiative to its Bukit Jelutong warehouse in Shah Alam in 2027.
