The National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia called for stronger translation of nutrition evidence into everyday kidney care at the 6th Renal Nutrition Conference 2026.
The two-day conference brought together 450 healthcare professionals at Grand Dorsett Subang on October 10 and 11, 2026. Participants included nephrologists, dietitians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals.
Dr Thiruventhiran Thilagananthan stated that the evolving nutritional needs of chronic kidney disease patients required healthcare professionals to continuously translate evidence into meaningful clinical practice. He said that knowledge’s true value lies in how it translates into practice and impacts patients.
The event focused on KDIGO 2024 recommendations and complex nutritional challenges like obesity, sarcopenia, and dietary adherence. Workshops covered practical skills such as phosphate control, nutrition screening, and digital health tools.
