ASUS says it announced the ProArt PA40SU, an external USB4 SSD enclosure, on April 21, in Taipei.

ASUS said the ProArt PA40SU supports USB4 data transfer speeds of up to “40Gbps” and works with M.2 NVMe PCIe SSDs in 2230 and 2280 sizes.

ASUS said the enclosure includes a four-level smart cooling fan and a thermal pad. The company said that, in its internal tests, the device transferred up to “2960GB” of data over 30 minutes.

ASUS said the enclosure has a tool-free, push-to-open design. The company said the device measures “124.8 x 46.5 x 13.5mm,” weighs “127g,” and comes in Black.

ASUS said the ProArt PA40SU uses a USB-C connector and is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS 14.4 or later. The company said the enclosure supports SSD capacities of 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB and requires 5V DC power.
