The Sheep Detectives probably could have been an obscure movie on some streaming service. It would not have a star-studded cast, and the computer-generated sheep would not have looked as convincing. However, such a sweet, heartwarming tale deserves a theatrical release.

I appreciate how simple the story was, how none of the pieces that were needed to solve the mystery was hidden, and how it was all about generosity and compassion.

Spotting who the murderer was was easy. The obvious clue, which was not even used in the final reveal, was there from the start. But, although the death of the shepherd was the string that pulled the story along, it was not the point of the story.
