Swatch Marks 15 Years Of Shanghai Artist Residency

Swatch marks the 15th anniversary of its Swatch Art Peace Hotel artist residency in Shanghai in 2026 with exhibitions and events in China and Europe.

Swatch said the residency, located on the Bund in Shanghai, opened on Nov. 1, 2011. It said the program has hosted more than 600 artists from 61 countries.

The company said the 2026 anniversary program began in Shanghai in January with the Art Journey 2026 Exhibition. It said events then moved across Europe and China with exhibitions featuring current and former artists-in-residence.

Scheduled events include PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai from May 7 to 10, Flora Fantastica in Venice from May 6 to July 26, and Kunsthaus Biel from July 16 to August 30. Swatch also listed the Locarno Film Festival from August 5 to 15, closing events in Shanghai in the fall of 2026, and pop-up exhibitions in China throughout the year.

Swatch said artist-in-residence Jake Homovich created a work titled In Transit – In Translation about the residency experience, now displayed at the Swatch store at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai. It also said it is releasing a special edition of its Traces publication featuring works by former artists-in-residence from the last two years.
